Guatemala Missionary News, May 2014.

This month in our Bible studies with the students at Fundaninos, we are studying Matthew 5, the Sermon on the Mount and a program by Eternal Productions called “God of Wonders”. It explores the wonders of God’s creation, the beauty of life, the complexity of DNA and many fascinating facts about the world we live in. The information was new to many of the students and they have sincerely enjoyed the videos and studies. When science steps in and reaffirms the need for a Creator, it can be a great boost to faith.

A good friend of ours, Russ McDowell, a veteran in Guatemala mission work, visited with us and shared his testimony with our youth group. It was a moving experience for the students. We are trying to emphasize the universal power of God’s love by constantly bringing in other Christians to share what God has done for them and it has been very faith building for our students.

The rest of our month continued on as usual. Our +100 students in the Precious Moments school/orphanage continued to receive their weekly computer and Bible classes. In our workshop at the orphanage Fundaninos we built two new work tables, 10 pens and did lots of wood burning.

In the cooking classes with the students, while cooking meals for the entire orphanage, Sharie taught the students to cook Sloppy Joes with homemade buns and rice pudding, Mexican rice with chicken, veggies and fruit cobbler. The 4th graders started classes this month and learned to cook Apple Streusel muffins.

Throughout all our classes the theme is the same: teach them, train them, love them and share the knowledge of Christ’s love for them.
